Why "Day Six Pix" instead of "John Hartleroad Photography" or something like that?

Well, I'm inspired by Eugene Peterson's account of the Biblical story of Creation in The Message:

"God looked over everything he had made: it was so good, so very good! It was evening, it was morning---Day Six." Genesis 1:31

My photography is an appreciation of all these days beyond Day Six. I first experienced the wonder of photography more than 30 years ago when a friend showed me how to process black and white film and then to make my very first print. I vividly recall the wonder of that experience. While I could now be classified as an amateur, I have been a professional in the past, having worked for a weekly newspaper, a studio, and an advertising agency. I have studied with several nationally known photographers, including Jim Clark, John Shaw and Rod Planck. I am a juried artist of the Prairie Art Alliance in Springfield, Illinois, and a member of NANPA, the North American Nature Photographers Association.

A new feature is the guestbook. I encourage you to leave a comment. Thanks.

Dear John, After hearing that you had a website (and forgetting to ask its name), I started googling...and voila! I found it! Your photographs are wondrous, exquisite....I also really enjoyed reading the journey you have taken to pursue your passion. I will visit here often, and explore more fully. One can be an "armchair traveler" through your photos and learn much about God's vast creation. (You had me "hooked" right away with your waterfall pictures, as "cascade" is one of the meanings of my name and I have been a "nut" about waterfalls all my life). Thanks so much for sharing yet another of your gifts! Lynne
