Mabry's Mill

This mill is probably the most photographed building on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I know I was thrilled to see it when I stopped there one autumn day. The mill was built around 1903 by Ed Mabry who used it first as "a blacksmith and wheelwright shop, then later it became a sawmill. By 1905 it was in operation as a gristmill. By 1910 the front part of the mill was completed and included a lathe for turning out wheel hubs, a tongue and groove lathe, a planer and a jig-saw. "

I enjoyed the stop and the scenery and the moment back in time.
